Why wooden toys?

We all want what is best for our children. This resolution doesn't stop with toys either. Parents are often torn between the large selection: Colorful plastic toys are lined up next to nicely lacquered wooden toys, with plush and rope in between. We often hear the recommendation to use wooden toys, but what exactly makes wooden toys better? A small plea for our favorite material.

Wood is a natural material

We have been making products from wood since time immemorial. This material is closer to us than almost anything else. Anyone holding wood in their hands immediately feels its warmth. The natural grain and the play of colors in the types of wood invite our eyes to linger. And children also love wood.

Wood is non-toxic

Small children in particular still explore many things with their mouths. There is also intensive contact with the toy later through the skin. Wooden toys do not dampen any toxins / pollutants and are therefore harmless to health. In Germany, only non-toxic lacquer is used for lacquered wooden toys without harmful substances. Tested wooden toys free of harmful substances. 

Wooden toys vs plasik / plastic toys - wooden products are sustainable

Our earth needs our attention and sustainability. Plastic is increasingly polluting the oceans and microplastics are polluting our groundwater. Every plastic part that is produced less is a benefit for the future of our children and is sustainable.

In addition, you can sustainably repair wooden toys. A little glue a little varnish and the wooden toy is like new. Have you ever tried to glue plastic? No chance!

Wooden toys are educationally valuable

It is in the nature of wooden products that they are not as detailed as some brightly printed plastic toys. But that is exactly what makes wooden toys educationally valuable. Children can incorporate the wooden things in their play in a much more variable way. The coarser forms allow more creative freedom and do not fix the child's brain. So it is no coincidence that wooden toys are often in use much longer than the plastic versions.
